I retired from an institution of higher education to devote more time to my writing, but ended up as a gun-totin' granny at a local jail in Tennessee. The stint lasted only a year and gave me fodder for one of my best-selling novels.
Although I was born and raised in Calfornia, my husband and I moved to TN in 2004, and I think I've starting to consider the south my home since I use "ya'll" quite consistently. This area is rich with history and I just might have to write about it.
2012-07-24 Great to meet you. I keep forgetting to check this site, and it's really growing. Glad you stopped by.

Hey Ginger. I also retired (almost) three years ago after 30yrs at the Univ. here in Monroe and have throughly been enjoying my time writing. "Y'all" is a major part of my vocabulary as well...just can't make myself say "you all" or "you guys"..feels wierd.
I haven't been pub'd yet. Thought I had my first in the bag last month when an agent was interested after reading my query; asked for the synopsis; then this week (Wed) got an email saying "it just isn't what I was looking for" and gave no explination why. SO...I'm back at square one...and in the middle of a second WIP while trying to figure out how to "fix" the first one!!!
Anyway, hope to get to know you and my other new friends better as time goes on. TTYL. Dee
