The only thing that might be that long would be a web address I suppose. Do I need to get a smaller link for websites for posting on the shoutout/annoucement section?

Did the same thing to me. It's gotta be something to do with the url/formatting. I tried tinyurl.com and it didn't work. But I did notice every time I tried to put the link in, the character count would jump significantly. I tried removing the formatting and that didn't work either. I tried several times including logging out then logging back in and starting with a clean slate. No luck. Finally, I cleared out, logged back in, then typed the announcement without a link and it worked. So now I'm wondering if it was something to do with cutting and pasting and throwing extra formatting issues in there that I can't see.
Since I already posted my announcement, I'll wait to try. But maybe if you use tinyurl.com then type it in rather than copy and paste, it might work.
